Positioned on the equator in east-central Africa, with it's coastline of the Indian Ocean, Kenya covers 224961 square miles (582647 sq. km) of varied and stunning landscapes; Kakamega rainforests, Indian Ocean beaches, Mt Kenya National Park and the rolling grasslands of the Masai Mara are well known. Kenya is almost 4 1/2 times the size of England. To the east it borders Somalia , Ethiopia to the north, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, and Sudan to the northwest. In the north,the land is arid; the southwest corner is is the fertile Lake Victoria Basin; the Great Rift Valley separates western highlands from those that from the lowland coastal strip.
